TOPIC – SUSTAINABLE WATER

The second short-term student mobility of our Erasmus+ project took place in Lisbon, a city of light and history, from June 3rd to 7th, 2024. Centered on the theme âSustainable Water,â the program brought together students and teachers from partner countries to explore climate action, environmental responsibility, and creative problem-solving. Hosted at ETIC, the week was a vibrant mix of collaboration, learning, and real-world exploration of global water challenges.
Throughout the five-day program, students took part in a series of inspiring and hands-on activities that blended education, creativity, and intercultural exchange:
- Student-Designed Climate Projects â International teams developed and presented original ideas such as awareness campaigns, short digital videos, and educational prototypes that promoted sustainable water use. These projects showcased creativity, teamwork, and a deep understanding of environmental issues.
- Talk by Rute Novais from Brigada do Mar â Students had the opportunity to hear directly from a representative of Brigada do Mar, a volunteer association dedicated to environmental protection. Since 2009, Brigada do Mar has led beach clean-up and decontamination efforts along Portugalâs coastline, promoting biodiversity and fighting marine pollution. Her insights inspired students to think globally and act locally.
- Visit to the Water Museum (Museu da Ăgua) â Museu da Ăgua offered a unique perspective on Lisbonâs historical and modern water systems. Students explored how urban water management has evolved and how sustainable practices can ensure water availability for future generations.
- Visit to the Lisbon Oceanarium (OceanĂĄrio de Lisboa) â At one of Europeâs largest aquariums, students discovered the vital role oceans play in regulating the planetâs climate. Through immersive exhibits, they learned about marine biodiversity, conservation efforts, and the direct impact of human behavior on aquatic ecosystems.
- Enhanced Digital Skills â Practical workshops helped students develop multimedia communication skills, including video editing, stop-motion animation, and digital storytelling â tools essential for raising awareness about environmental issues.
- Improved Communication & Collaboration â Working in international teams strengthened studentsâ confidence in English, especially in public speaking and intercultural dialogue. The experience fostered empathy, mutual respect, and global citizenship.
- Environmental Awareness in Action â Firsthand experiences in Lisbonâs environmental and cultural landmarks brought water-related challenges to life, inspiring students to become proactive change-makers in their own communities.
- Strengthening School Partnerships â Teachers exchanged strategies for climate-focused education and began planning how to integrate student-created projects into school curricula and future activities.
- Recognition and Motivation â The week concluded with project presentations and a certificate ceremony, offering a powerful sense of achievement. The mobility left students motivated to engage in environmental advocacy and continue developing solutions beyond the classroom.

TOPIC – BIODIVERSITY

The third student mobility (C3) of our Erasmus+ project took place in the historic and culturally rich city of İstanbul, TĂŒrkiye, and focused on the vital theme of âBiodiversity.â Over five enriching days, students and teachers from partner countries came together to explore TĂŒrkiyeâs rich natural heritage through interactive workshops, outdoor learning experiences, and creative projects that blended science, culture, and environmental action.
This mobility aimed to deepen studentsâ understanding of biodiversity and ignite a sense of responsibility toward preserving it. And it certainly delivered.
Students began by exploring what biodiversity really means â not just in theory, but in practice. During guided park visits, they observed local flora and fauna firsthand and listened to an expert who explained complex ecological concepts in a simple, relatable way, making the importance of biodiversity clear and tangible.
They then got creative – making nature-inspired crafts using pine cones, leaves, and other found objects, and designing powerful digital posters with Canva to spread awareness about protecting ecosystems.

Their work didnât stop there. The posters, photos, and crafts created during the week were shared in partner schools and across social media, amplifying their message and inspiring others to care for the natural world.
The İstanbul mobility was a dynamic and memorable experience, blending ecological education, cultural discovery, and creative expression. It empowered students not only to understand biodiversity, but to become its ambassadorsâtaking what they learned back to their schools, their families, and their communities.
The week was a powerful reminder that meaningful change begins with awareness and actionâand this mobility sparked both in a truly impactful way.
